HI! I'M ABBY!

these are my little guys.

I've always written stories, but only began to really develop comprehensive storylines with multiple complex characters back in 2020. Both Beothan/Lunar Squadron and The Operatives are ever-evolving stories that I love writing and drawing about. These characters reflect so many of my favorite things; I'm incredibly grateful that you're curious about them!

Lady

CLUB DJ in the coruscant mid-lower levels

Lady is a Nautolan in her late 20s who lives in the mid-lower levels of Coruscant. After building up a rapport and working at a number of small clubs across the galaxy, she lands a residency at one not far from her apartment in the entertainment district. Lady is seldom seen dressed in anything but black and wearing her fully tinted sunglasses.
In and out of the club, Lady maintains a stoic yet laidback personality. She looks out for her colleagues across the room from behind the decks. She earns herself a crowd of regulars by spinning hardwave, jungle, and industrial clubbing music. She'll often DJ for six hours straight on busy nights.
When the Empire cracks down on rebel activity in the city, her club comes out unscathed. However, as a fly-on-the-wall behind the turntables, she listens closely to her patrons and the business they're doing. Lady soon enlists herself as a sympathizer for the Rebel Alliance, informing them of any important information that can be used to bring down the Empire and restore peace to the galaxy.
🗨 Lady is half-persona and half-original character, I suppose. If you asked me what kind of character I'd choose to create and perform in any Star Wars media if I had unlimited freedom, Lady is my answer; hence why she has an ambiguous non-name like Lady. She's quickly become one of my favorites! I'd like to think that she's one of the DJs who allows Dox and Vira to sneak in and dance on the weekends.

BRIDGET LINH

aka 'skitter', san francisco's first spiderwoman

Bridget Linh, known in her spidersuit as Skitter, is the first spiderperson from San Francisco in her universe. She works as a stage technician at a concert venue. As she's adjusting a stage light, she feels a pinch at the nape of her neck and stumbles off the ladder.

Bridget is suddenly incredibly sensitive to light and sound; she can hear trolleys ringing ten blocks away and suffers fevers and migraines. Suspiciously, her other injuries from the fall have healed overnight. When the pain fully subsides, Bridget discovers her spider abilities and begins to explore them. She becomes something of a hero to Bay Area residents.

Among Bridget's (and her roommate, Noah McKinnan's) mutual friends is Miles Morales-- a college student and Alchemax intern, a company that plans to apprehend Skitter for observation. After a fight, they're able to get a sample off of her for research. Miles is finally let in on the bigger picture: A new spider is being synthesized with Skitter's blood and and unleashed on another individual, thereby creating a new spiderperson within Alchemax's control. When their tests succeed, Skitter will be eliminated.

A paid-off crew of SFPD officers shows up to a meeting between Miles and Skitter. Miles shields her when the gunfire starts and succumbs to his wounds. This is their canon breaking event. In their initial timeline, Skitter is killed and a new spiderperson takes her place. Instead, she survives and a second spider is on the loose. Unknown to Bridget, that Alchemax spider reaches Noah-- her very own roommate. As Skitter and Webs work together more, Bridget and Noah begin to spend more time together. The two eventually develop a romantic interest in one another and, at last, reveal their identities completely.

CAMI & ELM

champion acrobatic gymnastics duo from california

Camilia Moreno and Elm Rhodes are an acrobatic gymnastics duo that find their footing as fan favorites in the sport. The two meet as university students in California; Elm is a computer science major and acrobatic base and Cami is on the university's Women's Artistic Gymnastics team. Elm is introduced to Cami by a mutual friend at a meet.

Toward the end of her season, Cami feels more and more like an outcast among her overly competitive and snobbish upperclassmen teammates. She finds enjoyment in spending time with Elm and visits her at acro practice. Some acro skills come naturally to Cami as the two are messing around due to her passion for calisthenics. After a perfect 10 on floor at her final conference (and continued animosity from her teammates), Cami decides to break her contract and retire from artistic gymnastics.

The journey to get in competition shape is challenging for Cami and Elm, but brings them closer together. The two develop a bit of an online following due to their skill, silly antics, humor, and simply the fact that they're an unusually old and tall pair for the sport. Soon enough, the competitive acro season begins; Cami and Elm are prepared to give it their all. They qualify for an international championship during their second season and find it increasingly difficult to keep their feelings down. They admit their love for each other the night before they're about to walk out onto the floor for the biggest routine of their lives.

🗨 When I did competitive trampoline & tumbling, we'd share dates/venues for our national championship with acrobatic and rhythmic gymnastics. When I was bored, I'd go into the acro hall and watch them compete. I've always had a fondness for the discipline and I think they pick the best music!

MORGANA

Half-human fighter searching for her birth family

Morgana is born into a noble, feline-like family in a far-off kingdom she can't recall. Though her memories of early childhood are fuzzy, she remembers only having limited access to town and being under constant supervision. Nonetheless, she is raised by loving nannies and a kind but distant mother.

By the age of 4, Morgana's mother finds it difficult to keep her from sneaking around and keep fellow nobility from asking questions about her daughter. Since her birth, she's claimed that her father was killed in battle and that she wants to protect Morgana from the same soldiers that murdered her father. During a clandestine meeting with a man in her study, Morgana sees the truth: her father isn't dead-- he's human. The kingdom strictly forbids entry of humans within its walls; its citizens learning that the crown princess is a half-human, illegitimate daughter of a traitor would be damning for the royal bloodline.

The circumstances of Morgana's birth are leaked by a royal page and her parents deliver her to a family in the countryside temporarily; one year turns into, two, then five, however, and her memories of her mother begin to fade. She stops waiting for her to return, instead turning her focus on making a life for herself. She's bounced between a few more families in the meantime and is worlds away from the kingdom she was born in.

As a young adult, Morgana makes a peaceful living as a blacksmith, signmaker, and muscle-for-hire when needed. She's forging a new staff in her shop when she meets Vera Kellant, a rogue asking for her help. The two struggle to get along-- Morgana is stoic while Vera rushes into conflict-- but find common ground when they can. With time, Morgana learns that Vera was a knight having an affair with the princess of her kingdom. Morgana sees a glimmer of hope; if they work together, maybe they can find both of their kingdoms and find closure, possibly growing closer to one another along the way.

Alros

experimental magic city

Two species of Alros: the Tauri (ram-like horns) and Aguerans (soft, upright horns). Their story focuses on the magic harnessed through string patterns. Created for a university club activity back in 2023.

JACQUE

little jester guy

Created as a mascot for artbyFORM's WILDCARD event (2024). Goofy, excitable, and free-spirited. Designed around 'jack of all trades, master of none' due to the open-ended nature of the event.

Shiloh & Taz

superhumans

My first (long abandoned) OCs from middle school. Started out as Steven Universe gemsonas (naturally) with unique combat abilities. Unapologetically ripped off every game, movie, and TV show I enjoyed at the time. Such is life at 13.

ACH'SA & LUNE

Star Wars girls working odd jobs

Part of a Jag-related story I drafted. Jag is thrown in the brig with the girls and takes it upon himself to get them to safety. Ach'sa is excitable and hotheaded; Lune is distant and methodical. The two of them continue to find their way in a post-Empire world.

BEOTHAN

is home to Lunar Squadron, a cell of the Rebel Alliance during the reign of the Empire.

THE PLANET

Hidden deep in the Jedi Temple archives are records of an ancient planet, cultivated specifically by and for the Jedi Order. Beothan (pron. BAY-oh-thon) is a rocky Outer Rim planet with a wet climate and, upon its initial discovery, a just-barely unbreathable atmosphere. Jedi, botanists, and anthropologists create a long-term plan: slowly add flora and fauna to Beothan’s ecosystem that will, in time, purify the atmosphere until it’s breathable. Considering Beothan’s remote location and the galaxy’s lack of knowledge of it, the cost is worth it for the Jedi Order.

During the High Republic, when the surface is finally breathable, the future of Beothan is in the hands of two Jedi Knights. They spend much of their lives surveying the planet; they discover deep valleys and massive mountains, expansive caves and vast lakes, and construct a Jedi Temple on the surface. Their mission is plagued with visits from Lord Ochremus-- a Sith acolyte they once failed to reason with during their interplanet exploration.

Assigned to Beothan for life, the two Jedi create a happy, quiet life on its surface, even raising a child there. As Force Ghosts after their death, they forever haunt the Jedi Temple on Beothan. After almost 200 years of silence on the rocky planet, a Jedi rediscovers it during the Empire's reign and establishes it as a Rebel base.
Beothan is a collaborative project between myself and Charlie and is part of Stellar Remnants, a collection of all my Star Wars-related writing. Works can be found here.

THE PEOPLE

Those who converge on Beothan come from every corner of the galaxy-- rich or poor, Jedi or civilian, human or alien.

Jag Dons

Former Jedi General, Lunar Squadron General

Jag Dons is a freshly knighted Jedi when the Clone Wars break out. He's deeply attached to his twin sister, Keldin, despite how Jedi are taught to not form deep attachments. When the time comes to send them out onto the battlefield, the Order sends them out together to create the strongest battalion. He is strategic, caring, and a little bit reckless. during Order 66, Keldin and Jag are separated.
Jag spends a short while wandering the galaxy alone and without purpose before he's rescued by a crew of travelers, all without revealing he's a Jedi. On board the Ephemera, he takes responsibility over strategy and geography.
Eventually, Jag asks his pilot to pull into hyperspace without coordinates during a battle. He reaches into the Force, jumping out of hyperspace in view of a small, gray planet. They land on the surface, effectively rediscovering Beothan and establishing rebel activity there. Two Padawan survivors also arrive to Beothan many months later; he tries to train them, but fails.
After several visions of his sister through the Force, Jag reunites with a Dark Side-ridden Keldin in person. A tough fight leaves Keldin wounded and dying. Jag rushes her back to Beothan. He tries to be as involved in her recovery as possible, but soon realizes he needs to step back and provide Keldin with the space to figure things out on her own terms. He does some of the same, eventually feeling ready to train his Padawans again.

Keldin Dons

Former Jedi General, Neutral Force Wielder

Keldin Dons is a freshly knighted Jedi when the Clone Wars break out. She's deeply attached to her twin brother, Keldin, despite how Jedi are taught to not form deep attachments. When the time comes to send them out onto the battlefield, the Order sends them out together to create the strongest battalion. During Order 66, Keldin and Jag are separated.
Keldin is ushered into the Inquisitorius, where she is trained to hunt and kill any surviving Jedi. She works alongside Adrien, an old Jedi friend of hers. The two of them rekindle their romantic relationship, but not because they love each other; it's simply something to keep them alive and lucid. Following her friend's supposed death, the Sith Lord she serves under orders her to hunt down and kill her brother. Before she can succeed— or die trying— Jag faces off with her and wins. He brings her dying body back to the rebel base on Beothan.
During her recovery, Keldin decides she must fully cut herself off from the Force. She spends time meditating, exploring Beothan, and picking up important rebel skills. When she's ready to come back, she rebuilds her lightsaber and dons white blades instead of red, blue, or green. She serves the Rebellion as not a Jedi, but a neutral wielder of the Force.

Juno Euanthe

Order 66 Survivor, Jedi commander

Juno Euanthe is a Padawan who, due to the fall of the Republic, never finishes her training with the Jedi. Following the fall of the Republic, she wanders the galaxy alone. After being arrested for a cantina fight, she finds herself imprisoned in county jail alongside Oak Rochka, a young Mandalorian woman. Reluctant at first but quick to come around, the two form an alliance, break out of county jail, and make a run for Oak's ship.
Juno and Oak take a job waiting tables in Cloud City— a high-in-the-sky vacation destination for the wealthy on the gas giant of Bespin. Having to share a dormitory and clothes brings them closer together. Oak reveals that she's Force-sensitive, but was an outcast in her family because of it and never honed her skills. They begin to teach each other what they know.
When their time in Cloud City is over, despite their romantic feelings, the two go their separate ways in search of themselves. After about a year, Juno lands on Beothan, called to it by a distant voice. She feels at home on Beothan and quickly decides to fight for the Rebellion. Upon her first visit to the Jedi Temple, she meets the source of the voice: her ancestor, Alyona, the first ever resident of Beothan.
Juno and Oak reunite about seven years after they split; Oak has been working abroad for Lunar Squadron, but only now has had the pleasure of arriving to base.

Nikoa "Oak" Rochka

Force-sensitive Mandalorian

Nikoa "Oak" Rochka is a Force-sensitive girl born to a Mandalorian family. When Oak's mother sees hints that her daughter is Force-sensitive, she is sent to be raised away from Mandalore with her uncle, a historian who studies cultures and religions across the galaxy. Oak tries to hone her skills with the Force, but can only do so much without a teacher. At 14, she takes up Mandalorian armor in an attempt to prove her worth to her family.

Oak lives and fights alongside her mother and three brothers on Mandalore during the Clone Wars. During the latter half of the war, her secret is revealed to fellow clans. After the Siege of Mandalore, she steals a ship and flees on her own terms. Oak finds herself imprisoned in an Outer Rim county jail alongside Juno Euanthe, a young Jedi woman. The two form an alliance, break out of jail, and make a run for Oak's ship. The two take a job waiting tables in Cloud City— a high-in-the-sky vacation destination for the wealthy. Sharing a dormitory brings them closer together and they begin to teach each other what they know about the Force.

When their time in Cloud City is over, despite their romantic feelings, Juno and Oak go their separate ways in search of themselves. Oak meets three other estranged Mandalorians during her travels and forms a clan with them. They ultimately end up doing work abroad for Lunar Squadron on Beothan; Juno and Oak reunite as fellow Rebels after seven years apart.

Lilith Prest

Order 66 Survivor, Jedi Commander | Created by Charlie

Lilith Prest is a Padawan who, due to the Empire, never finishes her training with the Jedi. As a girl, Adrien is an older sister figure in her life; they spar and wander the Jedi Temple together. The two gradually spend less time together when Adrien's master dies and Lilith is shipped off to the front lines of the Clone Wars. Lilith loses her master during Order 66, but keeps his lightsaber and learns how to dual wield. Following the fall of the Republic, she wanders the galaxy alone for a short while, eventually making her way back to Coruscant. She runs into Kira, a model and fashion designer, when running from stormtroopers. Though Kira spends much of her time hiding or disguising Lilith, the two quickly become close.
Coruscant quickly becomes too dangerous for both of them. They flee together, but Kira continues her career in an effort to protect her public image from suspicion. Roughly a year later, Adrien— now an Inquisitor— tracks Lilith down in an effort to either persuade her or kill her. A vicious fight leads to a lightsaber stab wound through Adrien's abdomen, but not before she fatally slashes Kira across the back. Lilith must reach into the Force in order to heal Kira enough that she survives her wounds.
The two hide while Kira heals. They return to Adrien shortly after, with Lilith insistent on getting her older sister back. Lilith finds herself drawn to its Beothan Jedi Temple and eventually makes her way there (solely with Kira). They are among the first Jedi/civilians to arrive on the planet after Jag. They choose to stay and fight for the Rebellion. Though Lilith is stubborn about continuing her training, she eventually comes around.

Kira Ayazulace-Oukes

Aristocrat fashion designer, Rebel | Created by Charlie

Kira Ayazulace-Oukes is a young, half-human & half-Twi'lek woman from Coruscant who models for her mother's fashion brand. She grows up wealthy, eventually inheriting her work. She can be spotted in a few magazines and ads around Coruscant's middle and upper levels.
After the Republic falls and Coruscant becomes more heavily patrolled, Kira is followed by Lilith, who is a young Jedi trying to avoid getting caught. The two become friends, begrudgingly at first, and Kira disguises Lilith as an average civilian friend. However, when it becomes dangerous and unavoidable for Lilith to hide anymore, the two flee. They travel across the galaxy, but Kira continues her career in order to maintain her public image. She pushes the idea that she'll be on sabbatical moving to the countryside in the name of art.
Adrien, an old friend and Inquisitor, tracks down Lilith in order to kill her. Kira is caught in the crossfire and comes out with a lightsaber gash across her entire back. Lilith must reach into the Force in order to heal Kira enough that she survives her wounds.
Kira and Lilith are among the first individuals to arrive on Beothan after Jag. They choose to stay and fight for the Rebellion. While the public sees Kira as a beautiful fashion designer putting on massive shows, she is also a textiles expert for the Rebel Alliance. In the latter half of the Rebellion years, she puts on a runway show entirely made of outfits that criticize the Empire's many crimes. It effectively kills her career and officially brands her as a Rebel.

Adrien Vatt

Ex-inquisitor, Neutral Force Wielder | Created by Charlie

Adrien Vatt is a former Jedi Knight who receives her rank after the premature death of her master. Her hair is naturally a light sort of pink, but she dyes it crimson red for many years. She is an older sister figure to Lilith, a Jedi Padawan she trains with. Adrien is ushered into the Inquisitorius when the Republic falls, where she is trained to hunt and kill any surviving Jedi. She works alongside Keldin, an old Jedi friend of hers. The two of them rekindle their romantic relationshipas a means of survival.
Adrien soon receives a mission to hunt down and kill Lilith. Their fight ends with a lightsaber stab through her abdomen; many days later, Adrien wakes up and finds herself rescued by an old amphibian woman. She feeds her and allows her time to heal, though Adrien leaves quickly. She reunites with Lilith and Kira, lost about what her future looks like. Together, with Rehla as their pilot, they travel the galaxy for a short time while Adrien continues to heal.
After she parts ways with Lilith and Kira, Adrien pursues rebel-related jobs, as well as cargo jobs led by Rehla. Rehla's ship is commandeered by the Rebellion over suspected contraband on board, but it leads to her and Adrien becoming independent contractors for the Rebellion. By now (and much like Keldin), she has donned white lightsaber blades and now serves the Rebellion as a neutral force wielder.

Arthion Roth

Cargo & fighter pilot, Rebel captain

Arthion Roth is a half-Devaronian, half-Twi'lek pilot who founds Lunar Squadron. Growing up, she never quite fits in due to her unusual appearance. Her parents provide her with love and support, but as soon as she's of age, she knows that she needs to leave home and see the galaxy. Arth gets her pilot's license and spends her latter teen years/early adulthood saving for and refurbishing a small freighter— the Ephemera. She travels to Coruscant, where two teenage locals, Dox and Vira, show her around and help her to fit in. Arth takes up various jobs transporting goods and repairing ships.
When the Republic falls, Coruscant is no longer safe for most civilians— especially those in the lower levels like herself. She pivots to transporting people to safety off-world. Returning the favor to Dox and Vira, she offers them and their family first choice. After Vira's parents are safe, Dox and Vira decide to stay with Arth and support her cause. Shortly after, they rescue Jag, a stray Jedi survivor who also joins them. They make their way to Beothan purely by chance, but establish a Rebel base and spend much of their adult lives fighting against the Empire. Jag and Arth give birth to twin daughters, raising them on Beothan amid the war.

Antheia Einsley

Rebel Medic | Created by Charlie

Antheia Einsley is the medical supervisor for Lunar Squadron. Growing up, she looks after her mother and brother— the latter of which frequently falls ill with infections and flu symptoms. Through caring for him, Theia realizes her passion for medicine and helping others, especially as the galaxy becomes more tumultuous through the Clone Wars.

During the last few months of the war and the early days of the Empire's reign, Theia finds herself as part of an outreach organization that travels to faraway words and provides medical care. While restocking an outpost, she finds herself being visited by Jag, who offers her an opportunity to work for the Rebellion. Knowing the galaxy will only get more dangerous and the Rebels could ensure her family's safety, she accepts.

Antheia is the base supervisor for all medical services on Beothan alongside Dallian, who also works as a scientist in the lab. Their facility goes from a ramshackle assortment of scrapped parts to a fully-functioning medical ward. After Jag rescues his sister, Keldin, from the Empire, Antheia crosses paths with her often. The two gradually grow closer, with Theia going from distant and annoyed towards Keldin to fond and protective of. Despite the drama of the galaxy and time apart after Theia falls victim to an Imperial kidnapping, the two always find their way back to one another.

Dallian Sorenson

Naboo handmaiden dropout, medic, bioscientist

Dallian Sorenson starts out as medical personnel on the planet Naboo. As a teen, she trials to become a handmaiden for the queen, but is disqualified on a technicality related to her tattoos. She pivots to working in the medical sector, serving lots of refugees passing through Naboo as part of Senator Amidala's outreach program. She continues to add to her tattoos now that there's nothing barring her from doing so.

Since the Chancellor-turned-Emperor is a Naboo native, Imperial propaganda is rampant on the planet. Knowing no better, Dallian enlists herself in the Imperial medical corps as a means to continue her career now that the refugee program has ceased. After only a few months, she begins to doubt her decision. She is mistakenly kidnapped by the rebels on Beothan; they offer her a medic job if she fully defects from the Empire. She accepts. Dallian works alongside Antheia, who she quickly becomes close friends with. The two of them run the medical ward on Beothan, as well as study Beothan's natural resources in their lab. Dallian is serious about her work, but sarcastic and silly among friends. She spends most of her free time practicing her tattooing skills and exploring the valleys, forests, and lakes of Beothan.

Sevitri Medina

Village Mandalorian, sharpshooter, musician

Sevitri Medina is a Mandalorian who grows up in a small village away from Mandalore. The village that he grows up in is surrounded by trees and lush, rolling hills. After his parents meet while traveling the galaxy in their twenties, they settle down alongside a couple other Mandalorian families in favor of a simple life. His mother sings; his father plays the fiddle.

Early in the Empire's reign, his village is subjected to bombings. The first one claims the life of his father and Sevitri's left leg and right arm. Medics and armorers work together to create him new ones out of whatever materials they can salvage. Three years later, a second bombing run hits. Sevitri's mother makes the ultimate sacrifice and the rest of the village is able to evacuate. Her passing isn't in an instant, so Sevitri is able to be with her in her final moments. A group of three Mandalorians arrive to his village in response to a distress signal; having no family left among the villagers, he decides to join their party. One of their party members gives up an ingot of beskar to repair Sevitri's arm.

Sevitri and his crew is contracted by the Rebel Alliance to travel the galaxy and complete various tasks in the Rebellion's best interest. They formally join Lunar Squadron on Beothan soon after. Sevitri is kind-hearted-- sometimes to a fault-- and honest. The destruction of his village makes him turn inward and become resentful of the galaxy, but his clan and his work with the Rebellion brings him back down to Earth and he finds balance between a warrior lifestyle and a gentle-hearted demeanor.

Panza Doros

Mandalorian Foundling, heavy weapons specialist

Panza Doros is a tough and excitable Togruta who grows up in a very remote region of the galaxy. Rescued as an orphan from the planet of Doros by a group of Mandalorians, she is taken away to a safe and secure Mandalorian covert. She grows up learning how to fight and, as is custom with this covert, how to sing. Her primary weapon is a rotary blaster. After the Republic falls, she and a group of fellow foundlings are old enough to leave. They make a vow not to reunite until the Empire is defeated.
In her journey across the galaxy, Panza meets Oak Rochka, a fellow estranged Mandalorian. The two form an alliance and collect two more Mandalorians along the way. Together, they're contracted by the Rebel Alliance to travel the galaxy and complete various tasks in the Rebellion's best interest.Panza tends to be cautious and hotheaded. She is seldom made in charge of prisoner interrogations or extractions, on account of how she's never one to shy away from an argument. She speaks some Mando'a, but knows more about traditional Mandalorian folk songs than she does language. After the Empire falls and the galaxy is at peace, she takes her rebellion clan to meet the birth clan she grew up with.

Judith Jenn

Exiled mandalorian prince of kesh

Judith Jenn is a Mandalorian Keshiri man and the former heir to his family's rule. As the youngest son, he is expected to hone every skill possible-- piloting ships, cooking, public speaking, and of course, combat. His mother, the current matriarch, aligns herself with Mandalorian terrorists and the Empire thereafter. During the Siege of Mandalore, Judith and his father silently reject those alliances and fight for the Republic instead. His father dies in the firefight. When he brings up his disagreements years later, his mother is furious; Judith is exiled from Kesh and his family. Quickly, he packs up and leaves.

Judith wanders the galaxy for a short while until he meets Oak and Panza (and later Sevitri), other estranged Mandalorians. They form a clan, eventually finding themselves fighting for the Rebellion. Now free from the pressures of his family, he is free to explore the skills he's best at: melee combat and piloting. Through time with his newfound clan and the Rebellion, Judith goes from a stuck-up and cold individual out for himself to a team player who will go to great lengths for those he cares about.

ARCHER STAG

lone mandalorian-for-hire, rebel | Created by Charlie

Archer Stag is an exiled Mandalorian. They grow up in a somewhat large clan that maintains strict rules, traditions, and heirarchy. Archer's mother has high expectations for her children and puts particular pressure on Archer to be a stoic leader. Their mother refuses to take a side during the Siege of Mandalore, watching many fellow clans fall on both sides during the bloodshed. Archer finally comes clean about the guilt they feel for not doing what was right; their mother takes it as a rejection of clan values and exiles them.

For the first time in their life, Archer is alone in the galaxy. They stumble their way into the bounty hunter's guild but never quite fit in; they find mercenary work to be a struggle and it only reminds them of the violence on Mandalore. Archer begins taking up rescue bounties; instead of claiming the bounty over a wanted criminal, the bounty is for a kidnapped individual and has been placed by their loved ones. Archer makes a solid living off of rescue missions, finding it to be the ideal balance between their warrior lifestyle and their desire to pursue good deeds.

The Rebellion catches wind of Archer's rescues and gets in contact with them, offering a long-term position doing rescue operations for the Rebel Alliance and other persons of interest. They accept and join up with Lunar Squadron on Beothan. Archer finds their footing quickly with the Rebellion, enjoying their newfound family and purpose.

HARK'EMOSE'LETTHIRI

EX-INQUISITOR PROTEGE, VILIGANTE | Created by Charlie

Hark'emose'letthiri (Kemosele/Elle) is a young Chiss girl who grows up with little agency over her future. When a Force-sensitive Chiss is born, they are usually conscripted into the military as a type of intergalactic navigator called a sky-walker. The Chiss are a very insular and isolated community from the rest of the galaxy, but during the Clone Wars, they briefly open themselves up to the Republic. When the Republic falls, Elle finds herself away from the Chiss and kidnapped alongside Jedi survivors. She is hand-picked by Lord Ochremus, an ancient Sith Lord, to be an Inquisitor and his main apprentice.
Chiss girls typically lose their Force sensitivity by the age of fourteen. Despite their Lord's attachment to her, the other Inquisitors can see that she's becoming a liability. During a mission, Adrien slashes her legs and leaves her to die. Deep down, Adrien hopes that she will survive the injury and create a better life away from the Empire.
With time and effort, Elle recovers. Her legs are replaced with bionic ones below the knee. She takes up mercenary work, wielding a double-ended staff made of an Imperial electrostaff and her lightsaber. Though she is no longer Force-sensitive, she holds onto her combat training and the technical skills she learned, both as a sky-walker and an Inquisitor. Her work often overlaps with the Rebellion. After many years, she reunites with Adrien and Keldin. They make a plan to kill Lord Ochremus, once and for all.

Rehla Sen

Cargo Pilot-for-hire, rebel | Created by Charlie

Rehla Sen is a Togruta pilot. While working on Bracca during the beginnings of the Empire's occupation, she steals the Andromeda, a ship she had been refurbishing in secret. She takes on various jobs hauling cargo across the galaxy, until Lilith and Kira find her and ask for her help. Rehla obliges, initially planning to turn them in for the reward money. She starts to feel responsible them and scraps her plans. After hunting them down, an injured Adrien finds the three of them on an outer rim planet. She has a short confrontation with Lilith, and agrees to come with them as a new member of their crew.
After Lilith and Kira say their goodbyes, Rehla continues with cargo jobs, as well as rebel-related jobs led by Adrien. Rehla's ship is commandeered by the Rebellion over suspected contraband on board, but it leads to her and Adrien becoming independent contractors for the Rebellion. With her knowledge of ship mechanics and piloting, she takes on many jobs: dangerous cargo routes, covert TIE fighter operations, civilian extractions, and so on.

Dox Alpheta

Coruscant runner, rebel sergeant

Dox Alpheta is a young Mirialan woman, born and raised on Coruscant. She grows up near the top of the Underworld, where crime is rampant but homes are affordable. Alongside her lifelong best friend, Vira, the two are underworld runners-- people who help guide Jedi, clones, or other law enforcement through the maze of the Coruscant Underworld. It's not a particularly safe job, but as the only child of a poor family, it makes enough money to help her parents pay their bills.
Dox loses her parents to a crash when she's a young teen. Vira's parents quickly take her in and raise her as their own. Rising costs and tensions across the galaxy mean that both Dox and Vira have to drop out of public school in order to do odd jobs in the Underworld full-time. Dox begins carrying two pistol-sized blasters. They also discover their passion for dancing and performing, and they take tips (and bribes) at local clubs they've snuck into.
When the Republic falls, the Coruscant Underworld becomes viciously unsafe. Vira, Dox, and Vira's parents catch a ride off-world from Arth, but the girls choose to stay on board and support Arth's cause. Shortly after, they rescue Jag, a stray Jedi survivor who also joins them. They make their way to Beothan purely by chance, but establish a rebel base and spend much of their adult lives fighting against the Empire.

Viraveneca sordo

Coruscant runner, rebel sergeant

Viraveneca Sordo is a young Twi'lek woman, born and raised on Coruscant. She grows up near the top of the Underworld, where crime is rampant but homes are affordable. Alongside her lifelong best friend, Dox, the two are underworld runners-- people who help guide Jedi, clones, or other law enforcement through the maze of the Coruscant Underworld. It's not a particularly safe job, but as the only child of a poor family, it makes enough money to help her parents pay their bills.

Rising costs and tensions across the galaxy mean that both Dox and Vira have to drop out of public school in order to do odd jobs in the Underworld full-time. Vira begins carrying vibrosickles-- two sickle-shaped knives that act as both a weapon and a device to slide across cables with. The two also discover their passion for dancing and performing, and they take tips (and bribes) at local clubs they've snuck into.

THE OPERATIVES

is a world of cybernetics, crime, and those who find themselves wrapped up in it.

THE WORLD

The world of The Operatives exists mostly in parallel to ours, only with advanced efforts in both bionics and science/intuitive technology. Most scientific effort is focused on the human body and human interaction, however. Through the 60s and 70s, the United States government explores a variety of projects that involve technology, human anatomy and lifespan, and machinery. The quality of life for those with congenital conditions drastically improves. In the late 1970s, the CIA begins Project Gossamer-- an ambitious project to see how much of the human body can be replaced with cybernetics. The procedures are invasive, unnecessary, and seemingly unlawful when files leak to the American public.Alongside the growing development of bionics in the US, the need for reform in the public sector becomes obvious by the 80s. Crime rates are spiking, quality medical care is rare, and most people have completely lost trust in police and emergency services. The US government puts forward billions of dollars for a joint project that intertwines science and first response: agencies. They effectively replace many police stations and a few trauma centers across the country, hoping to give the American people hope in the system again. Several of these agencies exist as part of a larger cybernetics organization that also engineer bionics, provide medical care, and research a variety of subjects. The American Cybernetics Association (ACA) is officially founded in the early 90s.Development in cybernetics continues through the 2000s and 2010s, with the most notable being the mind transfer procedure: a patient's conscience is uploaded to a digital "brain" within a fully cybernetic body. Very few individuals qualify for this expensive and dramatic procedure. In the United States, mind transfers serva mandatory two years of military service before continuing their lives, which is contested by many Americans.

Much of the story takes place within the Goddard Institute of Cybernetics in Los Angeles— a multi-million dollar organization that comprehensively tackles first response, cybernetics engineering, and research. All of The Operatives, save for the Irvines, are in their 20s.

Adya Milana Prisham

FIRST SUCCESSFUL HUMAN CONSCIENCE IN A BIONIC BODY

Adya Milana Prisham is a the world's first successful human consciousness uploaded to a fully functioning bionic human body. Born in Kolkata, West Bengal, she grows up both in India and the United States. While out in the countryside at 18, she travels too far into the open fields and stumbles into a former explosives testing zone. Adya detonates a covered landmine; her body is damaged beyond repair, but her brain remains recoverable. Her brain activity is compatible with the Mind Transfer procedure— an operation that will upload her brain onto a digital framework. Experts replicate her body while she's kept on life support.

Following her successful transfer and recovery, Adya chooses to move back to the United States and work for the Goddard Institute of Cybernetics in Los Angeles— an organization that comprehensively tackles first response and cybernetics engineering. Her "first" status gives her some celebrity in the science world. She finds herself having to navigate a new body, a new career, and simply a new era of her life.

When a colleague at another organization discovers corruption rooted deep in the American Cybernetics Association, she recruits Adya to her cause. They succeed— alongside Charlotte Caelius, a mercenary initially sent after them for investigating— but at a cost: many individuals lose their jobs and Adya begins to question the faith she's put in the ACA. As the dust settles, she finds her footing in this new phase her life alongside many friends.

Reese Franklin

COMBAT SPECIALIST, WHISTLEBLOWER, CYBERNETICS PROTégé

Reese Franklin is a combat protégé and child of the foster care system. Born with a congenital limb deficiency, she is offered a sponsorship by a bionicist who will test and design a set of bionic arms for her. The two become close, approaching a father-daughter relationship, all the while he is making arrangements to become her foster parent and give her a job once she’s of age. Dr. Trevor Irvine and Claudia Irvine are now not only her sponsors, but her parents and her bosses, too.

Reese became one of the youngest operatives of Exoware Biotechnologies– a smaller, private agency in LA that focuses on bionics development and crime response. By 19, she is drafted into a small team of operatives to carry out covert operations with high risk. Reese's roomate, Colby, does not have the security clearance to know about Reese’s ops. Colby and other peers take it upon themselves to investigate Reese's unusual behavior. They come to a grim conclusion: illegal bionics are in Reese's body that inhibit her long-term memory. The tasks she’s carrying out are off-book, dangerous, and violent.

Reese leads the operation to infiltrate her father’s office, steal data, and whistleblow to the media with it. The information successfully reaches the public, but not without cost; Reese's father destroys her bionic arms, her mother escapes, and her entire identity is questioned. When the American Cybernetics Association suspends all activity to conduct an investigation, it’s the first time in her life she gets to decide who she is and what she wants. Following the investigation of the ACA, Reese moves over to the Goddard Institute of Cybernetics and continues to explore her identity and freedom.

Sasha "Colby" Colburn

SHARPSHOOTER AGENT DOUBLING AS LOS ANGELES VIGILANTE

Sasha “Colby” Colburn is a skilled sharpshooter and operative who has spent time hunting bounties. Born to a poor Catholic family and a single father in San Francisco, she enters the military in order to pay for college. She has precise aim with artillery, which a scout for the American Cybernetics Association takes notice of. Colby is offered a position at Exoware Biotechnologies, a cybernetics center in Los Angeles.

During her brief break in her ACA career, Colby takes up mercenary work for a year after disagreements with her supervising officer's decisions. Exoware negotiates her return with a hefty pay bonus and massive benefits. Colby is allowed to live rent-free with Reese, a combat protégé and the sponsee of Exoware’s head bionicist. With time, suspicions grow about Reese's intense work schedule. A self-conducted investigation reveals that Reese has illegal bionics in her body that inhibit her long term memory. It becomes clear that this corruption runs deep across the American Cybernetics Association and other organizations are using illegal technology to carry out crimes.

Colby walks away from exposing the ACA with her life, but loses her trigger finger in a firefight. She tries to throw herself back into bounty hunting while her job with the ACA is suspended, but there is only so much she can do while her wounds heal. Months later, when the ACA returns to its usual activity, all five operatives return to the Goddard Institute of Cybernetics. Colby spends much of her time training cadets and lecturing visitors.

ADYA PRISHAM'S MENTOR, EMT, CULT SURVIVOR

Nathaniel Anastasio is an operative and mentor with the Goddard Institute of Cybernetics. Nate is encouraged by his father to join him at meetings for a men’s social club he’s grown up around. As a struggling teen in need of connection, mentorship and extracurriculars, he obliges. Several years pass and Nate's condition worsens, but his father’s social club has its ways to keep him there. Only by the time he’s 21 does he realize its cultish ways and close-minded teachings. He flees with little more than the clothes on his back, driving cross-country from North Carolina to California.

Nate battles addiction before entering a rehabilitation program for three months. He gets sober and and scores an internship at the Goddard Institute of Cybernetics, realizing his interest in EMT and first responder work. A few years later, he is assigned to mentor Adya Prisham, the world’s first successful human brain in a bionic body. Before her apprenticeship is over, Nate runs into a crumbling building to save several civilians trapped inside. He ends up stuck in the rubble, a section of his shoulder damaged deeply.

Nate remains out of field work for a long time, until Adya approaches him with information that puts the entire future of the American Cybernetics Association on the line. Falling back into form quickly, he gears up, ready to follow his apprentice wherever she goes.

Zion Scott

CANCER SURVIVOR & YOUNG ENGINEER

Zion Scott is the youngest operative on his team, often taking on roles as the mediator, optimist, and voice of reason. Across several years of his youth, his cancer diagnosis and subsequent infections ultimately leads to a quadruple amputation. At age 17, he receives a grant from the Goddard Institute of Cybernetics for all four bionic limbs. His life moves from Chicago to Los Angeles.

Adya– Zion's mentor– ropes him into her investigation of another LA cybernetics organization due to his engineering skills and ability to keep a secret. He's ordered to keep his distance, but he intervenes when people are in danger. Stuck between two places in life when the American Cybernetics Association suspends all activity, Nate offers Zion (and the rest of his fellow operatives) a room in his now mostly vacant apartment. he takes the time to pursue personal hobbies and familiarize himself with LA, while also combat training to become an operative alongside Adya when the ACA resumes activity.

In his late 20s, Zion is invited to become a sovereign agent– an operative who works internationally providing aid, transporting refugees, and defusing weapons. It is one of the highest honors an operative can achieve and is earned, never applied for. Naturally, Zion accepts, ready to take the world head-on.

Charlotte Caelius

MERCENARY OF LOS ANGELES, ACA FAILURE

Charlotte Caelius is a mercenary, living life on the run since fleeing a bionics testing facility. Born Ashlyn Mercy, she moves from Las Vegas to New York just before high school begins. Ashlyn volunteers for bionics test trials, only to learn she is compatible for the mind transfer program; her brain will be uploaded to a fully bionic body, identical to her real one.

Her transfer begins successfully, but she wakes up early and enters a state of fight or flight. The panic causes the death of a lab tech. She flees and changes appearance and identity, becoming Charlotte Caelius and leaving her old self behind forever. Caelius experiences several side effects of her brain not fully interfacing with her body, however; she endures paralysis, spasms, hallucinations, and violent behaviors for several months. Slowly and in complete solitude, she must learn to troubleshoot and repair her own body. She pursues mercenary work outside the law.

During a tense period of investigation for cybernetics organizations, Caelius is hired to kidnap Adya Prisham— the poster child of bionics and also a mind transfer. Despite their differences, Caelius agrees to double-cross her employer and help her expose corruption in the American Cybernetics Association. From Adya, she learns to focus her mercenary work more on the people who deserve consequences, rather than whatever gives her catharsis.

Kiana Lennox

CAGE FIGHTER-TURNED-BOUNTY HUNTER

Kiana Lennox is a mercenary and computer scientist. Born in Beaufort, South Carolina to wealthy parents, the expectation is high from a young age for her to be exceptional. While her parents believe she’s going off to college at USC, she has no plans to get a higher education yet; she intends to move to LA and see where life takes her.

The euphoria of freedom is short-lived. while exploring a closed off construction zone and scaling a crane, she slips. She gets caught in the lattice of the crane, stopping her fall, but it does irreparable damage to her arm when it’s violently pulled from its socket and fractured in multiple places. She tries to hide the injury, having no one to turn to and parents she refuses to tell, but it only worsens. Soon enough, her arm is infected.

Kiana strikes a deal with an ironmonger. She receives an under-the-table procedure to amputate the arm and receive a bionic one, under one condition— she must sign a 18-month contract for underground cage fighting, since her arm is state-of-the-art and combat-built. Young and desperate, she agrees.

When her contract is up, she meets Charlotte Caelius, a mercenary. They move in together and Kiana joins her in her field. Her days in the ring are over pretty much before they’ve started, but her combat skills become second nature. Unlike most of the people she’s up against as a merc, she has had no choice but to fight dirty.

Nora Luan

PRIMARY PATIENT OF PROJECT GOSSAMER

Nora Luan is a young woman and one of the most historically significant test subjects for Project Gossamer. Before the trials begin, she earns degree in forensic science and interns for a private investigator. Early in the process, chemical experiments are done to ensure her organic body can handle the amount of cybernetic material they plan to give her. Dr. Henning, a successful scientist, is brought in to conduct many of the tests.

After a couple years and several bionics later, they notice that Nora's aging has slowed and her body is circulating blood/nutrients several times more efficiently than a regular human body. Dr. Henning claims it to be a miracle, despite it being his intention from the start. His death is a mysterious one that the CIA claims they had no part in.

By the end of the program in 1984, Nora's body is 65% cybernetics. Many Project Gossamer files are destroyed, but enough remain that it eventually reaches the public in 1986. People are outraged about the things they’ve done to the test subjects. Not only were the procedures invasive and fatal, but Nora's aging being slowed without her knowledge creates a massive moral rift that most Americans reject.

By 1990, Nora is completely off the grid and nowhere to be found. By 2015, Nora is revealed to be living a quiet life in Los Angeles, continuing to investigate the bionics world independently. She has her suspicions about the American Cybernetics Association due to how many lingering Project Gossamer doctors were absorbed into the ACA in the 1990s. She remains distant from the spotlight, but pulls many strings from the shadows.

THE OPERATIVES

What is The Operatives?

The Operatives refers to the lives of several individuals, both official and outside the law, who work on the ground in the cybernetics industry of an advanced 2020s America.

HOW DID THE WORLD OF THE OPERATIVES BEGIN?

I got deeply into the MCU at the start of the pandemic. Though I know much of it hasn't aged well, I've always really loved media that deals with the moral and ethical questions of superhuman technology/abilities. I really enjoyed the way that the Captain America movies were so intertwined with reality. I wanted to create a world like that, only centered just on the technology part. I have always loved cybernetics. The initial story of The Operatives was a 100-something page screenplay in my Google Drive and it is terrible. The general plot has remained the same, but the circumstances and details continue to change every day.

WHAT'S CHANGED THE MOST FROM THE ORIGINAL STORYLINE?

The plot focuses on The Operatives' plan to extract Reese from her black ops team, gather intelligence from the facility, and expose the corruption across the American Cybernetics Association. Many little details therein are different now. In the original story, Adya knows that something's wrong with Reese because she, too, was conscripted into black ops missions without her knowledge. This didn't make sense considering how much surveillance she'd be under and took away from the impact of what Reese realizes she's doing. At one point, Caelius also sneaks into Goddard and remotely controls Adya's body. This was ridiculously silly and quickly retconned. The fight that took Colby's finger originally took her entire hands- both of them. I realized that getting two hands chopped clean off was also a little ridiculous. I also hated drawing them.

WHO'S CHARACTER ARC IS YOUR FAVORITE?

Even though she's years newer than the main cast, I have fallen in love with Nora. She was inspired by a Charlie character named Emma- a medical test subject from the 80s who lives nearly frozen in time. Charlie and I created these OCs months/years before we met, but found a lot of overlap. I asked the question, "if we have the technology in the 2020s to upload a human brain to a robot body, who was the first ever patient that kickstarted this technology?" Having a character like Nora who pulls strings from the shadows and is always one step ahead is so compelling and also a little bit haunting. Whereas Adya's cyborg identity is proper and Caelius's is edgy, Nora's is a bit old and grotesque. She's not state of the art; she's a cobbled-together mess of experiments and secrets.

What are some fun facts about the cast?

  • Despite having a supercomputer brain, Adya is terrible at video games

  • The black-market bionicist who helps Caelius change her identity was also a patient of Project Gossamer in the 1980s

  • Reese and Zion have "house arms"- simple, more comfortable bionics to wear at home

  • Reese was the first of The Operatives to be made in 2019 and started as a "Minecraft avatar maker"-type Picrew

  • In their late 20s, Adya, Caelius, and their friend Leo form a cover band called Idiot Girl

BEOTHAN

What is Beothan?

Beothan refers to the activities of Lunar Squadron, a crew of Star Wars rebels fighting the Empire from their home base on the rocky planet Beothan. Stories from Beothan are part of Stellar Remnants, which refers to all my Star Wars related work.

HOW DID THE WORLD OF BEOTHAN BEGIN?

I grew up on Star Wars, but only fell in love with it in 2021. My first OCs were actually girls named Moe and Ceres; a junior Imperial officer and a stowaway Force-sensitive respectively. They still have their (minor) place in the story, but it kind of just took off from there! Much of the lore developed when I met Charlie and we started intertwining the backstories of both our Star Wars characters. Soon enough, we had an entire world.

Why the name 'Beothan' and why the climate?

I liked the sound of beo in Beowulf. The than just kind of happened. I really enjoy the aesthetics of a sprawling, nature-overrun place like Yavin 4, but obviously needed to make it distinct. Less lush forest and sunset, more dense mountain ranges and rainstorms. Its terrain is not conducive to a domestic lifestyle.

WHO'S CHARACTER ARC IS YOUR FAVORITE?

I always look at Elle and get a little jealous that I couldn't come up with something like that. She is such an interesting, complex character from the start: a Chiss girl with a gift-turned-Imperial pawn who is left for dead when she loses that gift. Elle has every reason to be a hateful, spiteful, selfish person, and yet, she's not. Her search for the light isn't for redemption or peace, isn't led by the Force, and isn't for glory; it's simply what she does. Her exile is the first moment in her life she has choice and she inherently chooses good because life without it is not life at all. Stories like that are so moving to me. She's a character who has had to grow up too fast and, despite being young and small, is always the voice of reason in a room.

WHAT MEDIA HAS INSPIRED YOU THE MOST?

Andor and Star Wars: Rebels are the obvious choices. I love how grounded they are and how larger-than-life yet painfully human the stories in those shows are. Sophocles' Antigone has tons of quotes that I think capture the spirit of the Beothan rebels (especially Keldin and Jag) really well. Some songs on the Beothan playlist are Dream Brother by Jeff Buckley, Organon by Men I Trust, and We Carry by Lucy Gooch.

What are some fun facts about the cast?

  • Juno gets her tattoo (the two vertical lines on her forehead) while out with her clones during the Clone Wars; her master is absolutely furious

  • While estranged from Oak and finding her way on Beothan, Juno briefly (and I mean briefly) has a crush on Antheia's younger brother. They smooch once.

  • Sevitri has a spraypainted Lunar Squadron logo on his rifle; I'd like to think that he meets Sabine on a mission and she puts it there

  • Oak's armor intentionally does not have a ka'rta beskar (the diamond-shape indent on the chestpiece) because it was haphazardly forged after her brothers' armor
